Mission Statement

Delivery of high-quality, personalized orthopaedic care focusing on achievement and optimization of an active, healthy lifestyle.

Surgical Philosophy

John C. Austin, M.D.
  • Optimize Conservative Treatment Measures Prior to Considering Surgery
  • It is important to know when surgery may be indicated, and it is equally if not more important to know when surgery is not the best option.
  • Preoperative Patient Preparation: Optimize Medical Conditions and Joint Range of Motion and Strength Prior to Surgery Preoperative Surgeon Preparation: Develop a Patient-Specific Preoperative Surgical Plan Including Detailed Review of Relevant Imaging Studies.
  • Intraoperative Performance of Procedure: Verify Customized Surgical Plan Before Beginning the Procedure, Perform Surgical Procedure with Attention to Details Including Minimization of Soft Tissue Trauma.
  • Postoperative Plan: Minimize Pain and Maximize Range of Motion and Mobility.

Dr. Austin combines his extensive clinical experience and outstanding surgical skills with a personalized, holistic approach to patient care.

Excellence

Dr. Austin’s goal is to deliver exceptional care and to partner with you to achieve the best result possible. He and his team are passionate about restoring your health and optimizing your activities so that you can enjoy life to the fullest and engage in an active lifestyle.

Experience

Experience is crucial in making the best choice for your health care. With 19 years of clinical experience, Dr. Austin has completed countless clinical evaluations and has performed thousands of surgeries. He carefully weighs all of the relevant factors in each particular situation as a part of your individual treatment plan.

Experience is particularly important in both the timing and execution of a treatment plan. It is important to know when surgery may be indicated, and it is equally if not more important to know when surgery is not the best option. Dr. Austin and our dedicated, professional staff are happy to guide you through the process.

Knowledge

Dr. Austin has spent decades optimizing his knowledge and skillset in order to deliver you the best orthopaedic treatment possible. His passion for learning, progressive mindset, and flexibility in looking at traditional problems from new vantage points allow him to merge the timeless principles of anatomy and physiology with the latest surgical techniques and technological advances.

Education

We are committed to providing you with a complete understanding of your medical condition as well as the recommended treatment options. If surgery is indicated, we believe that proper preoperative education and preparation are essential components of a successful procedure and outcome. We will partner with you and invite you to take charge of your own health and well being in order to achieve the best result possible. Motivation and success stem from a proper understanding of your injury or condition as well as an understanding of the reasoning behind specific treatment recommendations. We have found that this strategy significantly improves outcomes over the long term.

Innovation and Evolution

There has been exponential growth in both orthopaedic technology as well as information technology in recent years. While some recently developed technology truly enhances care and improves outcomes, other technology can be harmful, ineffective, or expensive without improving outcomes. Dr. Austin and his staff are continuously evolving and improving. We carefully review new technology and do our best to offer and implement innovative strategies that are safe, effective, and reasonably priced. We incorporate new conservative and surgical treatment options that have demonstrated improved outcomes in our experience and in the literature. Novel conservative treatment options have emerged including new protocols and techniques in physical therapy/home exercises, yoga, weight and cardiovascular training, and injectable biotechnology. Surgical treatment options are also evolving and include innovative surgical approaches that minimize soft tissue trauma, image-guided operating room equipment, and patient-customized implants.

Personalized Approach

Each person is unique and has an individual set of activities, dreams, and goals to accomplish. Our comprehensive, patient centered approach allows for the development of a customized treatment plan that is tailored to your specific situation so that we can help you to recover from your current injury/condition and help you to optimize your health and lifestyle moving forward.

Effective Communication

Our team works in an integrative and productive fashion both with you as well as other members of the healthcare team that are involved in your treatment plan to ensure that you are receiving the highest quality of care possible. We communicate and coordinate care with numerous other entities including your primary care physician and other specialists, surgery centers and hospitals, physical and occupational therapists, and imaging centers in order to ensure that your care and treatment plan is properly executed.

Synergy

Dr. Austin combines the above factors which work together synergistically to deliver the best treatment and outcome possible for his patients. We offer innovative conservative and surgical treatment options that are explained in a language that you can understand and are delivered with a warm bedside manner. Dr. Austin and our outstanding staff work together to provide you with exceptional care using the above strategies throughout the course of your treatment.
